Click here for detailsThe principle, betting structure and rules of the Omaha Hi are the same as Texas Hold’em with two main differences:
1. Players are dealt four “Pocket Cards” (“Hole Cards”).
2. Players must use two “Pocket Cards” and three “Community Cards” to make the best possible poker hand.
These two differences in the rules demand a very different strategy for playing Omaha Hi. Each player is dealt four cards face-down, called “Pocket Cards” or “Hole Cards”. After that the first betting round begins. Order of play is also the same as in Texas Hold’em:
Preflop- Four “Pocket Cards” are dealt to every player face-down, starting with the “Small Blind”. Then the first betting round begins.
The Flop - After the first betting round, three “Community Cards” are dealt face-up in the middle of the table. Then the second round of betting is carried out the same way as the first one.
The Turn - After the second betting round, an additional “Community Card" (or the “Turn Card”) is dealt face-up in the center of the table. The third round of betting is carried out exactly as two the previous rounds.
The River- A final “Community Card” (or the "River Card") is dealt face-up. This final round of betting is carried out just like the third one, and precedes the Showdown.
Showdown - The player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. If several players show the identical best hand, the pot is split between those players.
Do not forget that in contrast to Texas Hold'em, players can not play the Board. Players need to use two of their “Hole Cards” with the three “Community Cards” from the table (the Board).
